| The Inamino area in the eastern region of Kakogawa City in Hyogo Prefecture is an area dotted with irrigation ponds. From the past, the people of this area have been familiar with waterside scenery through these ponds.
Near one of those ponds, Terada Pond, Hyogo University's Kakogawa Campus is located. The recently completed Building 4 of this campus is the laboratory building of the newly established Faculty of Health Science. In succession of the "creation of a waterside campus image" that was the basic concept of the Faculty of Economics and Information, completed six years ago on the adjacent site, a central courtyard with gently flowing water pond has been built between the two laboratory buildings, creating a waterfront space with lots of water and greenery, and light and breeze. It has become a campus with a harmony between the philosophy of an academic faculty scientifically researching health, and the natural environment of the local area dotted with ponds. Furthermore, the walls around the courtyard use scratched-out mortar showing a deep expression, and exposed cedar moulds, giving the impression of handcrafted work, making them a little different from modern materials and methods. |
