Head office of digital satellite broadcasting company BS Asahi that opened in December last year

The new head office for BS Asahi, TV Asahi's digital satellite broadcasting company, has been completed. It is located between Meiji-dori Avenue and the Togonomori area. This is a corner of Tokyo's Shibuya-ku Jingumae area where the bustles of the city and quiet areas coexist. The functions of the building, which are an amassment of technology and a "subtle response" to the surrounding environment, were the themes of the architecture. The result was a three-layer structure holding the internal functions such as the offices, studios and other broadcast-related rooms. The "Galleria" satellite studio was designed with monotone materials, and a large pent-roof was built along the Meiji-dori Avenue side. The wall on the Togonomori area side was designed using large protruding circular shapes. The inside of the building has free-access floors using no pillars, enabling it to meet any system backup or other requirements in the information revolution of the 21st century.
