YM SQUARE HARAJUKU

Night view showing the inside lights penetrating through the glass curtain wall

"YM SQUARE HARAJUKU," a city commercial building on Meiji-Dori Avenue in Harajuku has been completed. This building has been designed to have mutual characteristics with the adjoining "t's harajuku" building, such as being set back from the road, having a moving line plan with a number of shops being accessible from the street, and a tenant structure, centered around some key foreign tenants. Both these buildings now have the effect of contributing to each other. The key tone of the exterior of the buildings is white, and a continuation in the design between them has been realized by using full glass curtain walls. With these continuities, consideration has been given to enable the refined atmosphere of Omotesando to be naturally drawn into the Meiji-Dori Avenue.
By making use of the characteristic of the site, which adjoins roads to the back streets of Harajuku, and roads to the north and to the south, a passageway has been built in the middle of the building leading to the back streets, giving the facility a strong street shop approach. Furthermore, a circular wood balcony in the atrium gives a three-dimensional connection between the inside and the outside, creating a unique commercial space.
