AQUA HALL
A second wedding ceremony hall has been built in the Kobe Meriken Park Oriental Hotel. In contrast to the existing hall, which places an emphasis on the inside space, the design called for an open hall that drew in the rich environment of Kobe Harbor. The main players of ceremonies are the couple getting married, so all the equipment has been installed under the floor, leaving an architecturally neutral space. To reduce the load on the environment, the glass windows have been designed with double layers. For the wedding presentation, instant dimmer glass and glass floors with optical fiber lighting have been used, creating a new type of place for marriage vows.

DIC Graphic Arts Laboratory, Tokyo.
A new laboratory has been built in Itabashi, Tokyo, the birthplace of DIC, which will not only be the "face" for the Head Office Plant, but will also conduct advanced research and development of sophisticated printing technology. In order to meet changes in the research work, and to have mid-level nonterritorial office space, an exterior shaft plan was used. Also, to live up to the company's motto of "being functional," the exterior shaft Pca panels were left exposed, to create a dynamic exterior appearance.

TARAO LAKE VILLA
Located 600 meters above sea level on the Shigaraki-Kogen Plateau, the Tarao Country Club is know as a course with an abundance of beautiful ponds and fine views. The TARAO LAKE VILLA is a hot bath resort facility adjoining the course. In a conscious effort to show the connection with the existing lakes in the surrounding area, the building has been designed to look as if it is floating on an artificial lake. The flat roof highlights the horizon, and the louvers can be used to adjust the sunlight, as well as reflect light and shadows on the building and water, creating an extraordinary space. Also, because the openings can be fully opened up, this creates a connection between the inside and out, and makes people who visit the resort feel close to nature.

KYOURITSU GENERAL HOSPITAL MINATO MEDICAL COOP
This project consisted of completely moving and refurbishing a hospital that Takenaka designed and constructed 24 years ago. The site is located in an environment cluttered with small-to-medium-sized businesses and housing. A strong effort was therefore made to make some open space, in order to make the town more pleasant. To make the facility patient-oriented, the outpatient department was built in a wing in the open space area. A highly efficient hospital has been created, by separating the flow of the patients and the staff, for the various sophisticated multi-functional facilities. The exterior appearance has been designed to look as if the hospital were wearing a white doctor's coat, with a light and clean image.
