| As One Corporation Head Office | |
The Head Office of As One Corporation, a company that handles many types of medical and testing products, was relocated from Tenma to Edobori in Osaka City. Along with this relocation, the new Head Office Building was designed to integrate and strengthen the Head Office functions. The Takenaka design, which intends to create environment to help further business development, was selected to be used after winning a design competition. A classic, composed exterior appearance was created by covering all the exterior walls with granite and building a sloping roof. This gives the Head Office Building the expression of reliability and security. To create a bright office area inside, the openings were made large, and by using glass walls in the stairways and opening up the ceilings every second floor, the common areas of the building became bright, open spaces. Furthermore, the reliability of the company was guaranteed by using a base isolation structure and a security system throughout the building.

From August 2000, the campus rebuilding project, including the rebuilding of dilapidated buildings, began at the Central Campus of Mukogawa Women's University, as part of the work marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the university. The exterior walls of all the buildings are standardized using brown tiles, and they surround a central courtyard. The main building was designed to symbolize the information age and is the base for the information network, aiming to improve the level of information education. There is now an information environment where students can safely, comfortably, and freely transmit and receive data. The courtyard in the center of the buildings is a place where people can talk to nature, or their friends.

Aomori Contemporary Art Centre
This facility was planned in commemoration of one hundred years since Aomori became a city in 1898. Artists stay at the center for a given period and work, in what is known as the "Artist in Residence" program. It was designed as an "invisible structure," buried in the woods, taking advantage of the natural environment, and so as to prevent any loss to the rolling hills. The facility includes three buildings: the "Creativity Building" with a straight shape like a bridge over a valley, the "Accommodation Building," and the horseshoe-shaped "Display Building" with a gallery and a circular outdoor stage. Both the materials and the shapes of the buildings are extremely simple. Detailed consideration was given to the protection of the forest environment during construction.

Nadahama Sports Zone Clubhouse
Along with the opening of the Kobe Electric Power Plant, Kobe Steel newly built this Clubhouse in the expanded Nadahama Sports Zone. The aim was to build a space suitable for resting during sports while making the most of the eucalypt forest, the only remaining natural area in this industrial zone. By making the flat slab roof float three meters high alongside the eucalyptus trees, there is a serene unity between the landscape and the building. Also, by using the effect of the greenery and the natural light on the industrial materials, the building is designed to give the feeling of the transience of nature in the changes of the expression of the materials.
