HOSHIGAOKA TERRACE

This is a commercial facility that has been completed as the interior core of a large commercial complex in an exclusive residential area in the suburbs of Nagoya. The complex includes an adjoining department store, futuristic commercial buildings and existing facilities. The plan was for all these facilities to be pulled together as one.
By making use of gentle slopes, the walkway areas to get around enable the lines of vision of people "watching and being watched" to intersect, creating an enjoyable and lively city area. Also, the arc-shaped "TERRACE WEST" and the straight-shaped "TERRACE EAST" create a new city attraction.

HIKARI KINDERGARTEN

This 30-year old kindergarten was completely rebuilt while aiming at some differentiation with other kindergartens in the surrounding area. As a mechanism to promote one of the educational policies of the kindergarten, swimming, to society, a heated pool was designed to be covered with oval-shaped glass screens, forming an individualistic symbol in the clean exterior appearance. Starting from the pool, a central courtyard is surrounded by the playrooms, unifying the inside area as well as giving it walkway space to get around. This also assists with the safety and management of the kindergarten. The open playrooms and the high ceilings of the halls with light pouring in should live on in the memories of the infants.
