DO BOX

DO BOX is a commercial building located in "Higashi-Yagura," the eastern entrance to Dotonbori. The client has been protecting this land for many generations, and with the themes of "revitalizing Higashi-Yagura" and "the integration of history and newness" for the construction of this building, the aim was for architecture that had the strong volition to lead the future atmosphere of Dotonbori. The façade reduces the environmental load, and in order to bring back the traditional Japanese architectural style of verandah to the city, double filters were built using terra-cotta louvers. The presence of each of the materials meets the comforting expression of the terra cotta looking like trees, and brings back to the hearts of people living today, the expression of this theater area that was called "Goza-no-Yagura" (drum stages for five theaters).

TRIM Electric Machinery Kochi Factory

This factory was constructed in an office park rich with greenery close to Kochi Airport, and is the base for research and new product development. This factory also manufactures the water purifiers used for the water obtained through electrolytic reduction, famous as the "water good for your health." Expressing the identity of a company that handles water, the blue, reflective glass of the main entrance greets visitors to the factory. The cylindrical-shaped stairwells with a silver-colored external appearance serve as metaphors for the ionized alkaline water purifiers made here. The nature of the surrounding area is drawn inside the building through large openings, creating a work space integrated with the environment.

Koei Azabu Building

This project was for the design and construction of a tenant office building for Koei Fudosan Co., Ltd. on a site adjoining Akabanebashi Station on the Oedo Subway Line. A close view of Tokyo Tower can be seen in the background. The façade on the main side of the building is a double-skin-structure holding sun-shade louvers and maintenance balconies, making a big reduction in the air-conditioning load, and giving a distinctive look to the town atmosphere with a dynamic expression and fine details. With rigorous rooftop greening work, the design was for effective use of the rooftop and to improve the building amenities. The floor plan was designed to ensure the capture of light from a light court and two sides of the office rooms. This provided a comfortable space with the feeling of width and depth.

Raykay Minami-Aoyama Building

This is the office building for the Morita Group-affiliated companies. It is located in an area that is both commercial and high-class residential. The exterior façade has a closed feeling, with materials that reflect the manual work that used to be done there, which is in contrast to the open interior space with a high level of amenities. ZEBRE

ZEBRE is a wedding center facing an intersection on a main street in Nagoya and featuring a crescent-shaped façade. The aim was to create a ceremonial hall able to provide originality and hospitality to meet the recent trend in weddings in Japan. By using the shape of the site, the building has been designed as a three-dimensional structure centering on inner courts like Kyoto town houses and light courts like western patios. While the interior and exterior are organically connected, a serene and pleasant place has been created. As the center functions with people filling the inside, and with flowers, food and music, the white space around the crescent-shaped façade gives ZEBRE the feeling of a "painting or book," making it a different type of wedding center.

Konan University Koyu Hall

This hall was built as a place for students and alumni to meet and participate in activities together. A large hall with the capacity for 400, a small hall and student conference rooms are connected by a large, open lobby, the aim of which was to become a new base for campus activities. A large square has been built in front of the hall, and by visually connecting the square and the lobby through large windows, there is a strong feeling of connection between the hall and the campus. The hall also acts as a "stage," whereby through the relationship between "watching and being watched" by the visitors, the hall has been designed as a "theater" where new relationships and activities are born.
