DAIDO KASUMIGASEKI BUILDING
This building is the new Tokyo base for Daido Life Insurance. Continuing
in the image of the old Osaka Head Office building that was designed
by Vories, the deeply engraved exterior is composed of three layers,
and with the warm-colored tone of the tiles, the building is stately
and impressive. A pleasant office environment has been created, with
columnless space by using double-shell frames, and 2.85-meter high ceilings. Client: DAIDO LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY |

| ARTERIO | |
This complex was constructed in the center of the highly-cultural castle town of Shimodate. It is composed of a public-interest complex that was designed to bring livelihood back to the city center, while fostering the continuity of traditional culture and the creation of new culture, consisting of the "Shimodate Community Exchange Center" and the "Shimodate Museum of Art," as well as a building containing private companies and housing units. The front garden, the glass bridge above that, the glass curtain-wall around the garden, and the three-level atrium visually connect the interior and exterior, and are designed to unify the whole complex with the city. A detailed analysis was made for a tension chord structure of the 55.5-meter span bridge, and this design was realized. Client: The Redevelopment Association of Shimodate Central

HYUNDAI MOTOR EUROPE
R&D Center |
This facility is the Europe Head Office of Hyundai Motor, which was planned for completion in Russelsheim, in the outskirts of Frankfurt. Aiming at well-established automotive manufacture and the promotion of sales, the project was planned to create a fitting new image for Hyundai Motor, by integrating the head office and showroom, the R&D center, and the design center. The basic concept called for harmony in the complex which has three different functions, centricity in the layout of the buildings, and an expression of continuity in the facade by using the same materials. Many highly-reliable German-specification parts were used for much of the detailed work, achieving high levels for both the design, and the functionality of the buildings. |

DEN FLAT NANPEIDAI
This is a rental apartment housing complex that was constructed in a high-class residential area of Nampeidai. In order to make the complex environmentally meet the requirements of a good quality city housing complex, a "space" was made using the common outside cross-shaped areas between the four residential blocks, allowing light and wind to pass through the four sides, including the northern side of each of the residential units, as well as giving each unit a feeling of independence. The expression of the light and wind that passes through, and the tranquil green changes along with the seasons, and the different views of the scenery give each unit a unique character. The spaces formed using wall-type flat slab structures, the integrated water system, and the simple floor plans eliminating corridors make it possible to make flexible changes according to future requirements. Ryogonji Temple
This is the family temple of the Mizuno clan, castellans of the Kariya Castle, located in a residential area in southwestern Kariya City. Many of the temple buildings had started to dilapidate, and the parishioners had asked for repair and rebuilding work to be done. The plans for the temple were based on the basic concept of the resident priest, "in the style of a Zen sect temple, for the purpose of preserving and continuing Zen culture." The temple gateway and sanctum (main building) were left as the center of the temple grounds, and overall repair and rebuilding work was carried out on all the buildings in the temple, including new building work. In contrast to the beautiful square-shaped roof of the sanctum, using only "wooden structures" and "earthen walls," low gable roofs in the east and the west create a serious atmosphere in the temple grounds. As well as being a place of worship, the temple also participates in the community, such as giving the local children the opportunity to experience Zen sitting meditation. Client: Ryogonji Temple |
