Kojimachi Diamond Building
|
|
This is a highly-functional office rental building located on the
Kojimachi 4-chome intersection. The glass curtain walls that have been
designed for energy conservation emphasize sharp, vertical mullions,
which change expression as the view changes. With a rooftop terrace
with plenty of greenery, the renewal and new installation of various
public facilities such as a police box, an Inari temple, and a subway
entrance, as well as the introduction of the B-MASS facilities management
system, a new type of value-added office building has been created. Client: THE DIAMOND REAL ESTATE COMPANY LIMITED |

The "New Wing" of the long-established Iwataya Department Store has been opened in the Tenjin area of Fukuoka as a commercial tenant building. It is connected to the opposite "Main Building" by midair and basement walkways, so the two buildings can be operated together. In concord with the cylinder-shaped glass sides of the Main Building, the New Wing has the same color tiles and curved glass to give the two buildings a sense of unity, while at the same time the New Wing has been set back to emphasize some feeling of independence. Some consideration has been given to town planning, by building a city-operated underground bicycle parking area, and the facade lighting and sunlight shine down to the underground space, creating a space with a sense of high performance. Matsumoto Performing Arts Centre
|
|
This project involved the rebuilding of the 42-year old Civic Hall into a new base for the art and cultural activities of the citizens with various high-level functions. The stage has been built in the center, and the audience seats have been located in the back, which gives people a wide area to move around, by using all the open space on the site without a front and back. The entire building is like a park where people are free to get together, but on the other hand it is like a theatre building. The exterior walls use the newly-developed GRC (glass fiber-reinforced concrete) panels with inlaid windows, which allow a soft light to enter into the interior, unseen up to now. |

In a perfect location overlooking Lake Biwa, a work space has been created which coexists with nature. The exterior wall sparkling aluminum spandrels match the ripples of the lake, and the streamlined shape appearing in front of Mount Hira makes the building harmonize with the surrounding environment. The lake side uses Low-e glass and balconies, which allow the scenery to enter the building while controlling the light and heat. Various places for meeting up have been located in the atrium and staircases, and with a variety of conference rooms, the aim was for a space that would inspire the creativity of the people working there. Kousoku Offset Sakai Main Factory

As well as having Head Office functions, this is the printing plant for daily newspapers. With the construction of the Yamatogawa Line of the Hanshin Expressway, the main printing plant was moved to land adjacent to the branch printing plant. While consolidating the functions and improving efficiency, greenery has been retained on up to 25 percent of the site, enabling it to remain unified with the surrounding area. The aim was a simple and dignified exterior appearance becoming a head office. A horizontal line has been emphasized on the top floor, and sky decks where eaves have been installed, which allows optimized views of the Yamato River. With the rich contact to the outside from the stairways and the top floor patios, a bright and open space has been created. Client: Kousoku Offset |
