GOFUKUMACHI BUSINESS CENTER

This is an office building standing on the corner of the Taihaku-dori and Meiji-dori intersection in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. The aim was to create an office building fusing functionality and comfort at a high dimension. The exterior appearance is an earthen color, and by sticking to materials such as wood and stone, even though it is an office building, a space has been created that is not inorganic. Shops are in the levels between the first basement floor and the second above ground floor. The office space in the upper floors has high 2.9-meter ceilings, and a comfortable space has been realized through such methods as using a grid-type ceiling system. With the exterior appearance, stone and stone-like PCa are used on the lower and upper floors respectively. This grid-tone, sophisticated design brings new light into Fukuoka City as a new landmark.

KARIYA GENERAL HOSPITAL OUTPATIENT CLINICS WARD

This project entailed the rebuilding of the clinic building of the Kariya General Hospital run by Toyotakai Medical Corporation, to improve the hospital functions and the medical environment. To harmonize with the existing buildings and the surrounding area, the height of the building was kept to four floors above ground. To serve as the main entrance to the whole hospital, the main entrance facade structure was designed with a pent-roof, and glass curtain walls stretching horizontally to emphasize the feeling of transparency and sense of order. The large piloti gives a sense of coexistence with the surrounding town. The common area connected through the entrance hall atrium draws in natural light and gives clarity to the movement of people inside the hospital. The various examination rooms, which are positioned around the atrium, ensure the privacy of the patients even though they are facing onto the common area. Although being restricted by the site, by undertaking the construction in stages, it was possible to quickly get the movement of people back to normal.

t's Kobe

This is a temporary commercial building that will be used for 10 years and that has been constructed on the site of the Great Hanshin Earthquake Recovery Association building. The aim was for a structure that would be a new face for the reborn Kobe, and with the image befitting the first Marui shop in the Kansai area. The structure uses Galvalume steel sheet which is gently wrapped right around with a ceramic-print glass veil. During the daytime this gives a soft expression, and in the nighttime creates a view as if it is covered with an illuminated veil, using various point, line and surface lighting. With the various approaches from the surrounding area, and by displaying a "time message" showing the wind strength with the movement of a light, the building is unified with the city.

Villa Takokuyama

This is a nursing facility for the elderly that has been completed in Yagi-cho, Funai-gun, in a garden city area in the northwest of Kyoto City. So that it would not just become an ordinary everyday nursing facility, the design was considered from the viewpoint of unit care aiming at a family life for the people who arrived, with ordinary and special bathrooms using hot spring water and with cafeterias situated separately on each floor, reducing restrictions on movement and bathing time. Also, so that it would not become inorganic as is easy with these types of facilities, various changes have been made to the room layouts and interior, with space for community interaction, and areas to enjoy the pleasant views and chat with one another. Thus for the people there it feels like they are spending their days in a family environment.
