Yotsubashi Crystal Building
This project entailed the rebuilding of the Osaka office of Okaya Koki. The aim was for a building which would be as popular with people as the old building. With wide pedestrian areas joining up onto roads on three sides, the structural and equipment elements were kept to the east and west sides, keeping the north and south sides open, and creating an open, office space without columns. Much use was made of natural materials, and by using warm white fluorescent lighting in the office areas, the building has the warmth of a space for living. Client: OKAYA & CO., LTD. |

YAMAHA CORPORATION NAKAZAWA DORMITORY
Yamaha abolished all its company housing and designed a 100-room dormitory for single men and women for Hamamatsu City. Giving consideration to plenty of greenery and the scenery of the undulations of the surrounding residential area, the positions of wind-resistant screens which also act to hide outside equipment have been laid out to give a rich, rhythmical exterior appearance. The plane plan called for a courtyard to be built between the dormitory and common-use buildings so that light, wind and the greenery could be appreciated. The make-up of the male and female occupants can be flexibly met through the vertical circulation layout. The dormitory rooms have large windows which can be opened on the north and south sides which make the rooms bright with good air circulation. Closed equipment modules are used in each room. Koukan clinic
This clinic was built as the owner became an independent medical corporation. The existing line of trees was left in place, a large rotary was built in front, and a low three-story building was constructed that would match the surrounding town atmosphere. In order to attract patients, an inviting exterior appearance was created using white tiles and rows of horizontal multiple windows. As one of the design features, a large roof has been built at the main entrance to make it easy for cars to pull up. Inside stairs with a warm atmosphere where natural light shines in have been built at each end of the building, with the waiting hall in the middle. A clear floor plan was designed with corridors reaching through to the consulting areas. Client: Nippon Koukan Hospital |
