NTT DoCoMo Sumida Building
|
|
Located in the redevelopment area at the north exit of Ryogoku station,
this is a telecommunications business building. The design matches the
fashion town concept which joins tradition and the future, and the cylindrical-shaped
silhouette with louvers on the exterior clearly defines a landmark.
Because of the extremely weak ground and the complicated design of the
double-layer exterior with balconies, the work was undertaken while
giving meticulous consideration to safety and the surrounding environment. Client: NTT DoCoMo, Inc. |

| KAMIYACHO SANKEI BUILDING | |
This tenant building won a design and construction competition. The
upper floors have an overhanging design, to solve shadow restrictions
and to create a beautiful standard floor small urban office building
while ensuring a high effective rate. With a see-through elevator and
horizontal multiple windows, the building has the expression of city
speed, and the interior, with the borrowed landscape of the green of
a shrine, has been designed with an open space. Consideration has been
given to safety, the environment and energy conservation with the installation
of structural control devices and measures against cold drafts. Client: THE SANKEI BUILDING CO.,LTD. |

AKITA Prefectural Police Headquarters Building-2
|
|
This police building has been designed to ensure more safety and reassurance of the lives of the people living in the prefecture with strengthened disaster-prevention functions. It has been newly constructed on a site adjoining the Police Headquarters as a "disaster-prevention symbol." The building has the latest equipment and functions for communications, information and risk management for security and disaster control, and will be used as the control center during times of disaster. The exterior with brown tiles and cream concrete harmonizes with the Police Headquarters No. 1 Building and the Akita Prefectural Offices, expressing the feeling of unity. Fifty-two cast-in-place concrete piles have been used up to a depth of 67 meters to ensure earthquake-resistance in this weak ground, and careful attention was paid to quality control. The site is in the administrative district, and while safety measures with regard to the surrounding area were taken during the construction, attention was also paid to beautifying the surrounding environment with flowers that bloom throughout the four seasons. |

NIHON PHARMACEUTICIAL UNIVERSITY
|
|
This newly-constructed research and training building is located in a rich green campus, providing a reminder of the old Musashino. The towering facade with a 50-meter high equipment shaft constructed with rusty stone-placed PCa boards has become the new symbol for research and education at the campus. Each floor has a simple plan with space without columns, encircled by an outer corridor and enabling flexible division and unification of the rooms. Taking advantage of consolidating the equipment shaft on the western side, the research rooms have an open feeling adjoining the common corridor. Client: Tokyo International Gakuen |
