AKS BUILDING
|
|
This is an office building in the Akihabara redevelopment area, with
features including a plan ensuring a highly-efficient standard floor
space and a 1.5-level piloti with a deck connecting to the town. The
aim was for an architectural design with a high sense of symbolism with
the motif of a cube drawn from the shape of the site and the volume
limitations. Each exterior side responds to the different city environment,
including a road, railway lines and a public square, and an expression
rich in change has been created using a grid-based tile and aluminum
complex design. Client: TOKYO SEIKA Co. ,LTD. |

Dainippon Pharmaceutical New East Building
|
|
This is a new laboratory specially designed for chemical synthesis
experiments for Dainippon Pharmaceutical. The client required a system
which had advanced experiment emission processing capacity and could
be flexibly meet changes in the experimental environment. A "flat slab
with base isolation structure" was used with earthquake-resistant walls
consolidated in both sides of the building, and by using a flat frame
without beams in the central experiment and research zone, it was possible
to design an optimum layout with ducts for the large amount of equipment.
The equipment functions in the experiment and research zone is designed
into 6.4-meter span units, so that the area can flexibly meet future
changes to the equipment. With a high-performance air-conditioning control
system and a heat-recovery heat-source system, the facility safety,

Hitotsubashi University Kanematsu Auditorium
|
|
This project was the refurbishment of the Kanematsu Auditorium, which
was designed by Chuta Ito, constructed by Takenaka, and completed in
1927, and which is also a nationally-designated tangible cultural property.
Seventy-seven years after construction, the frame had seriously dilapidated,
and also with the need for improving the functions of the building,
the plan aimed to improve the user-friendliness of the building, while
returning it as much as possible to the conditions at the time of original
completion. The work included refurbishment of the exterior, earthquake-resistance
strengthening of the building, complete refurbishment and renewal of
the interior and seating, renewal and additions to the toilets, and
reinstallation of lighting, sound, and air-conditioning equipment. The
refurbishment work was very carefully undertaken while leaving the original
engraving and interior and exterior wall arches, with detailed work
planning. Client: Fund-raising committee for the repair of Hitotsubashi

Health Care Facilities for the Elderly Requiring
Long-term Care of Toyota Medical Corporation "Habilis Hitotsugi"
|
|
This project involved additions to a health service facility for the
elderly operated by "Toyoda Medical Corporation," established by the
Toyota Group and Kariya City. The plan entailed the continuation of
the original theme of this suburban-type elderly health service facility,
as "a facility open to the local areas, with a close connection with
the surrounding environment." While continuing the functional separation
of the first floor public space, and the second floor zone for residents,
the plan was for a bright staircase situated in the center, so that
light, wind, and people's voices could be carried throughout the facility.
A glass screen has been installed on the southern side, promoting visual
contact with the local residents, and providing a continuation in the
space from the inside to the rich green outside space. Client: Toyota Medical Corporation |

Chugoku Central Hospital of the Mutual Aid
Association of Public School Teachers
|
|
As the Chugoku Central Hospital had become dilapidated and too small,
the Mutual Aid Association of Public School Teachers planned a move
and redevelopment project. The new hospital has been completed in the
Fukuyama regional area where much development is being undertaken, as
the hospital for association members working in the five prefectures
in the Chugoku area, as well as a local hospital for people residing
in the surrounding area. The aim was for a hospital that could provide
medical services in a bright and caring atmosphere from the standpoint
of patients, befitting the new century. All the beds in the four-bed
rooms face a window due to the suitable layout of the atrium, making
them more like private rooms. This building is also the first in the
eastern area of Hiroshima to be using a base isolation structure. Client: Japan Mutual Aid Association of Public School
