This is the new plant for Evermere Cosmetics, a company well-known for Internet sales, located in the Toyono Industrial Park in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture. In addition to performing as a "plant," the building has three additional functions: a "beauty center" for aesthetician training, a "visitors' area," and a "shipping center." The building has a layered outlay, with the first floor consisting of the office area, welfare facilities and the shipping center, the second and third floors holding the manufacturing areas, and the fourth floor having the "beauty center." By using a vertical void shaft (with an elevator and stairwell) to connect to each level, and by positioning the shaft near the entrance hall and visitors' area, the building becomes a space where various activities and city life can be felt. |
The corporate concept that "water is the basic" has been included in the design throughout, and in particular, the specially-ordered, large, round, glass blocks ( Also, the use of different materials symbolizing the horizontal and the vertical in the large volume areas for the louvers, eaves, and windows is designed to give harmony with the surrounding environment. The power lines in front of the building have been buried underground, greenery has been given to the boundaries, and a flower bowl has been constructed, all to make for a pleasant environment. This 18-meter large-span structure, using spiral copper piping as CFT columns without fireproof coating (Takenaka-patented technology), with energy-conserving equipment and machinery, and a layout easy to update, realizes a sustainable building which can flexibly meet any changes required to improve productivity in the future. |
