KANSAI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HIRAKATA HOSPITAL
|
|
This project involved the new construction of the main building of
this hospital on a different site, in commemoration of the 70th anniversary
of the establishment of the university. With the aims of introducing
new medical functions, improvement of services to the patients, and
fostering the strengthening of linkage and exchange of information with
the local community, the objective was for a bright hospital, easy to
understand and comfortable for the patients, equipped with the latest
functions for state-of-the-art treatment. In order to perform as a base
hospital during a disaster, the building uses a base isolation system
and has two types of heat sources and energy. Also, with open public
space such as a footpath, an open and environment-friendly hospital
has been realized. With the frame work, a large site was used, enabling
the precasting to be done on site. Client: KANSAI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY EDUCATIONAL CORPORATION |

This plant facility has been created in a unique "form," in which
to give support to the client who is taking on globalization and "new
production," through the design and functions. The administration building,
situated facing the road, and the three plant buildings are connected
by corridors with a courtyard built in the center. A sharp combination
of the horizontal lines and the void space of the administration building
gives the expression of the corporate image. In order to realize rigidity
of the building to withstand vibrations from cranes, and to have large
spans with a high degree of freedom, the plants use structures with
RC columns and steel beams. Emphasis has been placed on being able to
easily install new equipment in the future and versatility, with the
equipment being aggregately installed in the areas above the corridors
around the central courtyard. Client: Enplas Corporation |

Wako Building
|
|
With the functions of the company Head Office, this facility is the
sales base for the company, built on a site about 100,000 square meters
in size, which was previously one of the company's plants. The facility
is made up of seven buildings, including an office building with a glass-curtain-wall-based
facade and a large atrium, a cafeteria building using the softness of
curved walls, water and greenery, and a car park underneath green artificial
ground. Separated by function, the buildings are well connected in a
balanced fashion by five bridges, harmonizing with the rich greenery
in the outer perimeter and creating a high level of completion. From
the planning up to operation of the facility, work was taken to include
environmental activities, such as the reduction of LCCO2 (the environmental
term used by the Honda Motor Co., Ltd.). Client: Honda Motor Co., Ltd. |

South Right Wing No. 2 of Tenrikyo Oyasatoyakata
building complex
|
|
Tenrikyo has been earnestly striving ahead with construction for the
"Oyasatoyakata" concept since 1953. This building is the 28th, in what
will be a total of 68 buildings to encircle the area around the shrine,
with a length of about 872 meters on each side. It has been planned
as a resource center to help spread the Tenrikyo teachings, and also
contains an auditorium on the top floor, which can be used for international
meetings, with the facilities to handle simultaneous interpretation
in six languages. The exterior appearance of the tile roofing using
concave and convex tiles with zigzag gables, the balcony balustrade,
and the vermilion window frames faithfully adhere to the styles of the
first stage work, but the methods and the materials used are a concentration
of the latest technologies. Along with the "Tenri Sankoukan Museum,"
which was previously completed, this building enhances the Educational
Zone. Client: Tenrikyo Church Headquarters |

OGURA HYAKUNIN ISSHU CULTURAL FOUNDATION
|
|
This is the core facility of the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu Cultural Foundation,
constructed as part of work commemorating the 120th anniversary of the
establishment of the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The basic
policy was unification with the landscape of the site, located in a
gorge with Ogura Mountain in the background. The full length of the
southern side is a borrowed landscape garden, and the stone wall, tall
hedge and trees around the exterior give a sense of serenity. The exterior
appearance of the hip roof has been given a modern Japanese design using
monotone materials. The shade and shadow from the decorative crisscross
lattice around the second floor exterior show a gentle expression, and
looking through the lattice from the inside, the beautiful landscape
can be seen. With the main hall, within the difficult height restrictions,
the shape of the sloped ceiling was pursued as far as possible, and
with sunshine flowing in through the skylight, a feeling of openness
has been created. Client: OGURA HYAKUNIN ISSHU CULTURAL FOUNDATION |

LSI Sapporo Clinic
|
|
Fitted with state-of-the-art image diagnosis equipment (such as PET
equipment), especially suitable for the early diagnosis of cancer, the
functions of this clinic center around image diagnosis. With sun shadow
restrictions in this residential area, the building has been set back
with an emphasis on the different materials being used for the horizontal
and vertical lines. The interior, with a contrast between the common
area in the southern side designed with warm wooden undertones, and
the simple examination area with earth-color undertones in the northern
side, gives a sense of connection with the planning. Client: Kenkou Create Hokkaido Co., Inc. |
