SHIODOME SHIBA-RIKYU BUILDING

This building is located on a highly visible site, located at the southern edge of the Shiodome Development Area, where the Shiba Rikyu Garden stretches out to the south. The exterior has been given a high-quality appearance through the use of glass curtain walls and stone-placed boards. With three-meter high ceilings, office space with outstanding views has been realized. The lower part of the building presents a four-story atrium lobby as well as a pedestrian deck with a glass pentroof. While making mutual adjustments with the surrounding area, careful attention was required so as not to affect the adjacent railroads.

IPS Alpha Technology Main Factory

This is a new thin-screen television liquid crystal panel manufacturing plant, established through a joint investment by Hitachi Displays, Matsushita Electric Industrial, and Toshiba. Designed for symbiosis with the environment, the location of the building was decided after giving consideration to preserving as much of the existing greenery, including a road lined with Japanese zelkova and cherry trees over 10 meters tall. With the design concept of a high-level liquid crystal display technology by using metal panels and glass, the walls of the building, while being simple, present a rhythmical feeling. Short work methods were used, such as the realization of simultaneous work being done at various points, systemized ceiling units, and preinstalled equipment units. This meant the building work, with a total floor space of 290,000 square meters, was able to be completed in the extremely short period of 12 and a half months. Throush a tie-up with the Takenaka Research & Development Institute, micro-vibration and outgas measures have been implemented in the clean rooms.

Yokohama Bay Quarter

This project entailed the construction of an open-air mall commercial facility at Yokohama Portside. Making the most of the site, along a canal, the aim was to create a commercial facility with the concept of a "cruise." The seaside open area, using lots of curves, and the alley-like walkways that connect to it create a comfortable space, and visitors are able to enjoy shopping or meals on the decks or in the atrium while feeling nature. With the assumption of water, brine, wind and rain damage, innovations were made to the design of the floors, walls, and ceilings, and careful consideration was given to the selection of the materials and how it all came together. With works of art from foreign artists in the public areas, this is an appealing and innovative commercial facility.

KYB Corporation Gifu-Kita Factory C-Building

This is an office building that was planned for the KYB Gifu North Plant, rather close to the Kiso River. In commemoration of 70 years since the establishment of the company, the opportunity was taken to demolish the dilapidated cafeteria building, where it has been newly constructed, within a rich green landscape centered on a rotary that greets visitors to the plant. The building consists of levels for plant work, an employee cafeteria and offices. On the first floor there is an entrance hall with a large opening facing the greenery and space for meetings. The building uses structural control dampers which employee the company's world-renowned hydraulic technology. This not only improves the earthquake resistance of the building but also showcases the company's products.

Takeo Wangan Logistic Center

This project called for the construction of a new Takeo warehouse, situated in Wakasu, Koto-ku, Tokyo. As the main base for this company, which is a leader in the development and distribution of high-quality paper, the aim was for a distribution center with functionality centered on an automated delivery rack system, as well as a beautiful look. With the exterior the sides of the walls have been given the expression of a highquality paper "sample book" and cover by having both sides of the walls protruding out and wall surfaces with ribs. Rooftop greening is being used for the folded-plate roof of the truck berth, designed for harmonization with the community environment. With regard to the work, a solid foundation was constructed using 78-meter steel pipe piles and with improved concrete mixture and curing methods, a floor structure with little cracking has been realized.

Hirotec Corporation Seiun Dormitory

This dormitory for single employees has been constructed on a rich green, high ground in a suburb of Hiroshima. The building has been newly constructed on land adjacent to the newly-moved Head Office. In order to support the personnel of this world-class corporation, which has cutting-edge technology in the manufacture of metal molds for products such as automotive parts, the theme was to create a peaceful and relaxing facility, making the most of the location on high ground with mountain views. The structure clearly separates the public and private room areas with the public areas such as the cafeteria, bathrooms, and training rooms located on the northeastern side, with wide-open views, using wide windows for the enjoyment of nature and scenery. All the dormitory rooms are located on the southeastern side, realizing a high-quality life with a bright and open feeling.
