Mine Rehabilitation Program Center
Mine Rehabilitation Program Center This center is the first Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project to be undertaken in about 60 years. It entailed the new construction of a prison facility, on a site in western Yamaguchi Prefecture surrounded by greenery, which was previously a coal mine. Different from prisons to date with concrete exterior walls, this facility has three boundary fences around it and uses infrared sensors. Strengthened glass is used instead of bars in the prison windows, and Galvalume steel plate louvers are being used to prevent the inside from being watched from the outside, and as a measure against the western sun. With a gynecologic clinic open to the public, it is a "correction center opened up to the local community." In addition to the joint venture construction of the prison facility, which has the capacity for 1,000 inmates, Takenaka was responsible for the construction of 22 buildings, including the administrative building, the vocational training building, and the employee dormitory building.

Sagara General Center
Sagara General Center This cultural complex consists of a multipurpose hall with the capacity for 500 people and a welfare center. With the design image of a ship, a feeling of unification has been realized by designing the two facilities, each with different functions, under the same large roof, which is in the image of the hull of a ship. It is a 40-centimeter thick, one-meter pitch rib steel roof. Underneath, facilities have been designed using windows to ensure a high feeling of "transparency and openness." The eaves have been extended out in order to protect the interior from the western sun, as well as from wind and rain. With the oval-shaped hall, the feeling of unity between the performers and the audience has been created, and people can relax listening to music in the natural light flowing inside from the top lights.
