This project involved the decoration marking the end of the Toho Hibiya Amusement Area Redevelopment, which began in 1970. The plan called for a complex to be constructed on the site which was previously the Toho Head Office, and which contained the Geijutsuza Theater. The new complex contains "remm HIBIYA," a 255-room specialized accommodation hotel aboveground, and "Theatre Creation," a 611-seat specialist performing theater below ground.

With the main target for the theater being women in their 30s and 40s, detailed considerations and high quality were pursued in the overall simple design, with top consideration being given to the ease of watching the stage and functionality. The concept for the hotel was "able to enjoy a good night's sleep." The designs of the guest rooms have been made open and stylish, using glass partitions between the bathrooms and the rooms, with some bathrooms positioned next to openings.

This work, located in a busy city center in an environment with endless people and cars, was carried out while giving careful consideration to the prevention of any injuries to third parties, as well as to noise. In order to meet regulations on working hours, various efforts were made to the construction system and schedule, and inverted construction was used. A short work period was realized, by simultaneously proceeding with the work under direct management, such as the theater stage-related equipment and facilities, and the hotel guest room furniture work. Each department collaborated in order to maintain a high level of performance conditions, such as for the acoustics.

With a conscious effort to make the exterior become a new landmark, a hound's-tooth design was used, and by combining the different functions of a theater and a hotel in the same building in the Hibiya area of the center of Tokyo, the aim is to foster city culture and contribute to the activation of the city area.
