The exterior appearance, designed to resemble the original shape of a circus tent

This is the second permanent theater constructed overseas by the Quebec-Canada-based Cirque du Soleil world-class arts and entertainment troupe. The theatre has been constructed inside Tokyo Disney Resort, as part of work being carried out in commemoration of the 25th year since the opening of Tokyo Disneyland. The exterior appearance is designed to resemble the original shape of a circus tent like a "sailing ship" or an "iceberg." This form has been designed so the extent of imagination increases depending on the viewing angle, the lighting and the sky conditions. 30 or so triangular surfaces form the roof and walls. A pressure-bonding adhesion method has been used to attach the 0.3 millimeter fluorine-resinated stainless steel plates to the high-pressure wood wool cement and hard urethane foam (and rock wool for the roof) base sheets. About 12,000 white stainless steel plates cover the roof, and the shade and shadows created by the interweaving of 30 triangular surfaces express the challenge to the limits of physical ability performed by the Cirque du Soleil troupe members, the sense of balance and the feeling of floating, and freedom from gravity. With the key concept of "adventure," and with the theme of experiencing many things and discovering surprise and excitement inside, there is a gigantic black rock in the lobby, a theatre entrance space like a limestone cave, and restrooms like flower bowls and underground lakes have been created. The semicircular stage protrudes into the center, surrounded by the 2,170 audience seats. With the aim of the audience and the performers engaging in a show as one, with lots of sounds and lights creating a realistic sensation, the distance from the seats in even the furthest back row to the stage is only about 30 meters.
