Work has begun on the "Meieki Yon-chome
Nana-ban Area Redevelopment Building" (tentative name) in front
of Nagoya Station
On January 26, 2004 a joint venture consortium comprising Takenaka, Ohbayashi, Kajima and Shimizu began work on the "Meieki Yon-chome Nana-ban Area Redevelopment Building" (tentative name). The building will consist of a high-rise tower of 47 floors above ground (levels eight to 40 will be offices), and a low-rise tower of six floors above ground containing a cinema complex and other commercial facilities. The high-rise tower will have a maximum height of 247 meters, making it the tallest building in the Chubu Area. The grand opening is slated for spring, 2007.
