Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa

This resort on Kauai, Hawaii, was one of Takenaka's overseas business development projects. Opened in 1991, the resort was developed using a 1920's-30's Hawaiian concept. It has established itself as one of Hawaii's top resorts; its spa is ranked among the top five in Hawaii and its golf course hosted PGA's Grand Slam of Golf and receives high acclaim.

Amada Solution Center, Schaumburg, Illinois

Amada's machine tools are displayed in the center's showroom, which emerges as a tilted steel-and-glass rectangle; it is flanked by a red-brick office building. Within is a vast pillar-free space of 35mx120m, made possible by use of the largest steel in the U.S. which can be ordered in rolled-up form. Use of white oak and limestone in the interior presents a blend of Japanese and Western elements.
