Located near the gently sloping mountains, the elongated exterior design of the hospital is designed to fit in with the scenery of Yamashina and provide patients with a sense of confidence and peace of mind. There is a stairway above a water garden with fountains in the center of the building, designed to create a patient-friendly environment by clearly indicating the locations of and continuity between inner and outer space. The sound of the water falling from the stairway echoes throughout the entire building, creating an environment that provides peace of mind to both admitted patients and visitors.
