It also provides the functions of a Medical Care Act Article 42 facility designed to enable medical institutions to provide exercise therapy. The one-room configuration along the single roof is nestled up against the typical streets of Kyoto. This configuration ensures the ceiling height needed to accommodate a wide variety of programs and creates a space that seems to gently envelop one’s body. The large (approximately 20m x 20m) space has fully indirect lighting in order to create a soft lighting environment. The intent of the design is to create an environment in which the athletes engaged in rehabilitation and the people who come for healthy exercise will find it easy to listen to subtle changes in their body — a space in which the body is the major player.
