The existing trees set against the rich natural environment were preserved, and a single horizontal eaves was added to create a new water landscape for this restaurant where people gather primarily for dining. The emphasis was on creating the atmosphere of a venue arising out of trees for this building nestled among the trees, and so the placement of the restaurant approach was designed to match the stately atmosphere created by the existing pine trees. For the interior and exterior, locally produced cedar, American hemlock fir, zelkova, Chinese quince, reconstituted wood and various other varieties were selected so as to match the environment of the venue and the desired qualities of the space.
