The aim was to provide a spatial design that would appeal to the sensibility of dancers by cladding the supple “movement” of ballet into the pleats of the outer skin in the image of the tutu ballet dress, thereby gently enclosing the functional studio while rotating and rising. The building was given movement and spatial qualities by superimposing artwork in the image of dance against a static background in the interior, and lighting work due to the colorful fluctuations in the exterior, thereby producing a rich campus landscape.
