It is a place of study, where employees from all over Japan come to stay and receive training. To cope with the increase of operations due to the diversity of training, a new building was required, including 30 accommodation rooms. The extension was implemented using timber construction (CLT panel method) with Japanese cedar used on all surfaces.By developing a minimal CLT frame with well-honed constituent members, interior spaces enveloped with timber were produced, and full height openings offer great views of the lush green forest. This highly versatile and simple configuration seems to contain the message that sound timber construction will develop into urban timber construction in the future.
