1NWorks1932年竣工の堀ビルは、新橋外堀通りの交差点に位置する、最上階に住宅を併設する伝統的町家の要素を持つオフィスビルである。角地に立地することから隅部は緩やかな円弧とし、壁には異国情緒を感じさせるテラコッタタイル、街に開かれた出入口や大きなショーウインドウ、水平に連続する窓、装飾的なレリーフの意匠等がその外観を飾る。都市景観を形成する瀟洒な外観を、可能な限り現状のままで保存することに注力した。1989年には東京都歴史的建造物、1998年には国の登録有形文化財に登録された建物の価値を後世に引継ぎ、歴史的建造物の深みのある空間を活かしたスタートアップ企業のシェアオフィスとして再生することで、建築のもつ魅力と可能性を社会に発信することを目指した。（丸林 哲）Hori Building is an office building located at a crossroads on Sotobori Dori in Shinbashi that was completed in 1932. With residences on the uppermost story, it possesses features of traditional merchants’ family houses. It is located on a corner lot, so the corner of the building has been given a gentle circular arc. The façade has various design features, such as terra cotta tiles on the walls providing an exotic foreign feeling, entrances open to the street and large show windows, windows continuous in the horizontal direction, decorative reliefs, etc. This elegant façade that forms the urban landscape was conserved as much as possible. In 1989 the building was registered as a historic building of Tokyo, and in 1998 it was registered as a national tangible cultural asset. Therefore, to pass on the value of this building to subsequent generations, it was renovated using the deep spaces of the historic building as shared offices for start-up companies, with the aim of bringing to the public the charms and potential of the building.
