5441322This is a local television station facing the open square of Asutonagamachi, a secondary city center of Sendai City. The first floor entrance opens to the square so that the facility is open to the locality and the residents can freely come and go. An inclined glass box that greatly extends out towards the square opens up the television station to the city as a “collaboration stairs” that links each story of the building. The aim was that this new building should become a familiar presence in the locality. A “collaboration landing” is provided on the landings of the stairs, so that the stairs is not just a space for moving vertically between stories, but it is a place that enables conversations and simple meetings to occur.
