It was planned with a public space passing through the main building and connecting to the Annex on a separate site, as if joining Karasuma Dori and Ryogaemachi Dori, providing a place for exchange and recreation for guests. The two buildings facing Ryogaemachi Dori were given a uniform design with the composition of the Kyoto cityscape. From the guest rooms towards the outside are broad windows to expand awareness and intermediate outdoor spaces are created, deliberately expanding the scale from body to urban scale. The aim was to create a spatial composition that brings added value to “going on a journey”.
