The goal was to develop the prototype for a privately-established and privately-operated facility for sustainable regional revitalization, one that uses the power of sports to communicate a message of peace from Nagasaki to the rest of the world. On days with no sporting events, the concourse and spectator seats are opened to the public so people can stroll around the beautiful park-like natural turf pitch and environs. The complex includes a stadium concourse that is open to the entire area and has a variety of uses and functions; a hotel that provides a stadium-adjacent accommodation experience second to none; an open-air commercial facility along the multi-floor concourse; and the first zip-line in Japan to afford overhead views of a soccer stadium. Great emphasis has been placed on use of the stadium on days without sporting events to enhance the mutual synergy of the facilities. This results in increased added value and achieves unparalleled fusion between the stadium and the city of Nagasaki.
