Oct 15, 2015Takenaka Corporation

The 40-storey superhigh-rise office building CapitaGreen, whose design development was done by Takenaka Corporation (President; Miyashita Masahiro) according to an architectural design by Toyo Ito was named “CTBUH 2015 Best Tall Building Award for the Asia & Australasia Region”. Completed in December 2014, it is located in the Central Business District of Singapore. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is an organization with its administrative offices at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, U.S.A. The CTBUH Best Tall Building Award is given to projects that make a conspicuous contribution to the development of tall building architecture and urban environments and that have achieved broad sustainability throughout development at the highest and broadest level.

CapitaGreen, a superhigh-rise building boasting a height of 242 meters, is like a plant that grows towards the sky. It has achieved superior environmental performance, owing to its incorporation of many environmentally friendly technologies, including wall greenery that covers 55 percent of its exterior perimeter facade, a funnel (large rooftop air intake) that takes in clean fresh air and supplies it to offices on every story, and a semi-double-skin glass curtain wall that improves thermal efficiency. This award was given in recognition of the high quality of its form and environmental performance as a first-class high-rise building. Takenaka Corporation will continue to strive to develop technologies that make even greater contributions to the development of tall building architecture and urban environments in order to achieve a sustainable society.
