About 35 percent of its 30,000 square meter site consists of green space, which features some 28,000 sap-lings of local species, helping to recreate the natural landscape of the surrounding hillsides. By situating the massive struc-ture in echelons, the entire facility gains a sense of accessibility and cohesion. The mall has become a popular destination, featuring the largest observation wheel in Indonesia, an international-standard skat-ing rink and interactive experiences.Chiba Nihon University Daiichi Junior & Senior High SchoolDesign & Construction: Takenaka Corporation/ Structure: RC & S, 4 Fl. above, 1 Fl. below ground/ Total Floor Space: 13,136m2/ Completion: 2017This project in Chiba prefecture involved the rebuilding of a junior and senior high school to commemorate 50 years of the school’s founding. The junior high and senior high school wings face one another to nurture a sense of unity among students. Located between the two wings is a 16 meter-wide “Path of Light,” which connects the school’s main gate to school grounds. Carved in the large connecting eave be-tween the two schools are three circular openings symbolizing the school precepts of “Truth,” “Wholesomeness” and “Harmony.”Design & Construction: PT. Takenaka Indonesia/ Structure: RC & S, 4 Fl. above, 1 Fl. below ground/ Total Floor Space: approx. 165,000m2/ Completion: 2017This is the second hotel in Kyoto of the Royal Park Hotel chain belonging to the Mitsubishi Estate group, and focuses on offering comfortable accommodations to attract more guests. To create a relaxing space that balances the hotel’s connection with the adjacent major Karasumadori street, the rst oor was designed with a façade showcasing restaurants, thus cre-ating an attractive approach to the hotel. When illuminated at night, the façade de-sign concept evokes the ripples and ow of a river, making for a memorable visit.
